Tableau Catalog helps to understand the data relationships that exists in the back end. (i.e) looking at your metadata and provide meaningful insights about your impacts to up/down stream it could cause.
My personal view is, if business can understand – GREAT!! Else, it will be difficult to manage definitely like larger enterprise implementation.
I’m pretty sure, this is going to help the administrator to quickly go back and view metadata information for quick study of users using the data source, tables, etc.
Also business users can understand if the data is trust worthy or not by viewing these information (like LIVE connection showing Warning, Deprecated, Stale Data, or Under Maintenance etc.,). Data Stewards and Data Engineers can set these quality warnings.
This will definitely provide the business to build governance and trust in the data being used to make decision across the organization.
